Body Hair Removal: Choose the best option for every body part

It’s a fact of life, almost everyone has body hair, and they don’t even think twice about it; but many of us, men and women, prefer to be clean-shaven and use various body hair removal methods to obtain the look they desire.

You've got plenty of choices for dealing with your own body hair, and how you arrive at your method will likely be based on several factors, including time involved, cost, pain and permanence.

Facial Hair

Men: Generally shaving is the easiest, least expensive and most convenient; you could also use wax, either an at home kit or at a salon. A depilatory could also be used, provided it wasn’t too harsh. A permanent solution would be laser hair reduction or electrolysis.

Women: Tweezing or waxing, using either a home kit or professional salon. For permanent solution, laser hair reduction or electrolysis hair removal.

Chest

Men: Waxing, shaving, or depilatories. Shaving is generally a poor option, due to the increased likeliness of ingrown hairs. Electrolysis or laser reduction can also provide long term solution to chest hair removal.

Nipples

Men/Women: Tweezing; slightly stretch the skin, grip the hair close to the root and pull firmly.

Torso

Men/Women: Waxing or depilatories for temporary hair removal. For longer term removal, laser hair reduction or electrolysis hair removal are the only options.

Underarms

Men/Women: Shaving is a good option. Depilatories are not, because this is a sensitive area of the skin, and the chemicals in depilatories are too harsh. Waxing is an option, though it’s quite painful. Laser and electrolysis provide longer term solution to hair removal.

Groin Area

Men/Women: Careful shaving is a suitable option, though there may be significant irritation and itchiness when pubic hair re-grows. Depilatories are not recommended due to the harshness of the chemicals on this sensitive area. Waxing is a safe alternative, though it is (briefly) quite painful. Long term hair removal is available through laser reduction or electrolysis.

Legs, Feet and Toes

Men/Women: Shaving the legs is among the most popular choices, but the hair grows back fairly quickly. Waxing is preferred, though you must wait until there is about ¼ inch of hair to “grab.” Long term hair removal is available through laser reduction or electrolysis.

A totally hairless body is achievable, but it’s not always easy to keep; you must be exceptionally vigilant with your body hair removal maintenance program. Be sure to get good hair removal information and advice before determining which procedures are right for you.
